The classification of the three subgenera within the genus Haworthia is based on the floral structure. If you were to cut through a flower of the subgenus Haworthia you would discover it to be triangular or rounded-triangular in shape. The flower tube is slightly curved and slightly broader at the base, but not as much as seen in Robustipedunculares. The plants are quite variable, from the "lettuce" types such a lockwoodi to the retuse magnifica and the truncate leaved truncata. This subgenus encompasses over 2/3 of all species.
The seed pods are about the size of a grain of rice and each contains from 6 to 30 seeds. The photo of the seeds is highly magnified, as they are about 1mm long and 0.5mm across.
