15 May 2004 Trip to South Africa

We visited Clifton in Uitenhage first thing in the morning and looked at his plants, his birds and his cycads.  Driving west along the coast we kept seeing Baboons, and finally found a small troop what would pose for pictures.  We then drove Northeast of Jeffries Bay where we saw the prostate Gasteria armstrongii, Aloe africana, and Haworthia fasciata.

Then we drove to the town of Groot Brack River where we saw Haworthia kingiana, these were beautiful plants and difficult to photograph in the fading light.  We also saw Gasteria carnata.  We then hurried off to the west side of town where we saw Haworthia pygmaea v pygmaea as the light faded.  In the dark we drove back to Oudtshoorn where we spent the night.
