Paardepoort was 1km cut through a low mountain range, more of what we would call a "hog back" in the western USA. The canyon was characterized by a small forest of Euphorbia tetragona trees, growing on the steep hillsides. On the other side we looked for Haworthia sordida, but found other plants (and critters!) as well.
