13 May 2004 Trip to South Africa

First stop today was in the field next to Gerhard’s house.  Here we saw an amazing assortment of plants, including Crassula columnaris, Haworthia truncata growing with Haworthia mucronata var morrisiae and Aloe variegata.   Here we photographed twin Euphorbia colliculina and Scenedum hallocandina and more Eriospermum, about 1” tall.

We next stopped at a farm close to Uniondale to see the amazing white form of Euphorbia horrida.  We had a wonderful conversation with the farmer in the room containing more ostrich leather than I knew existed.

Next we went to Rondikop farm near Willowmore and saw Haworthia bayeri, then, in the fading light we hurried off and found about 20 Haworthia emelyae var comptoniana.  We then spent the night in a really bad hotel in Willowmore.
