09 May 2004 Trip to South Africa West Albertinia

Here we found Haworthia magnifica var splendens as it should be!  The farmer had recently cut all the brush from the hillside causing us concern as it looked like he was preparing to plow.  We later learned that he knew very well of this population and was chopping some exotic bushes that were threatening the Haworthias.  Here there were hundreds of Haworthia magnifica var splendens, each seeming to be more beautiful than the last!  This was a large and healthy population, but still occupied not much more territory than a tennis court!  I could have taken many more photographs, but night was coming and we left in partial darkness.
