What looks like a mirrored pair of green giant's tongues, laying flat on the ground?  Oh, that's easy, its Haemanthus sanguines, a common South African bulb.  From it's subterranean fortress, this bulb sends up two leaves which lie flat on the ground.  Each of these huge leaves measure about 8-inches long and 10-inches wide.   The first dozen times I saw one of these, I thought, "this must be what some of the flora looks like on an alien planet!
