07 May 2004 Gibbaeum Species

We stopped along the road at an unfenced wild area and found our first Gibbaeum, Gerhard showed a photo of this plant of Steven Hammer who commented that it is either a Gibbaeum austricola Glen or a Gibbaeum haglenii H.E.K.Hartmann or a Gibbaeum haagei Schwantes. This mesemb was found in an exposed location with a gravel surface. This plant has a few nips in its leaves, indicating that something was attempting to include it as lunch.
